Having advertised a recent haul of jobs at their Solihull factory totalling 1,000, Land Rover could never have expected over 20,000 applications for the various roles. Land Rover advertised for assembly line workers in October and November and has said that it had already filled 500 of the positions already. The line workers are required to fill morning, afternoon and night shifts, rotating on a three week shift pattern. The plant now has roughly 5,500 workers at the Solihull site. There was also more good news in terms of Jaguar Land Rover's graduate recruitment scheme. It received 10,632 applications for its graduate positions, showing a 61 per cent increase from the year before. Jaguar Land Rover HR Director, Des Thurlby, said: “Seeing the number of graduate applications increase five-fold in three years reflects the increasingly positive perception graduates have of our business. The recruits will be joining us at an exciting time, and once on-board, we will work hard to ensure that their careers with us will be both challenging and exciting." |
